Jeta Amata was born on August 21st, 1974 into a perceived special family of veteran filmmakers (Ifoghale Amata, Zack Amata, and Fred Amata) in Cross River State, Nigeria.

His father Zack Amata, is a veteran Nollywood actor and one of the most successful filmmakers in West Africa, No wonder he made remarkable success in the Nollywood industry.

What makes the Amata family special is the fact it is one of the few Nigerian families that have produced the highest number of seasoned actors, filmmakers, movie directors, movie writers, and movie producers.

Jeta Amata was a student of Theater Arts at Benue State University where he bagged a Bachelor of Arts degree. The seasoned filmmaker has been decorated locally and international due to his highly acclaimed works like “Mary Slessor”, “Alexa Affair” which was debuted at the Berlin film festival in 2004, etc.

His big break came about globally when he produced a documentary for the BBC in 2003, the short documentary which was titled “Game of Life” generated a lot of buzz on social media. He is known and well-loved for using his works to tell stories that impact positively.

Jeta Amata Marriage

He met Mbong Amata; a one-time Miss Akwa Ibom who was a 2nd runner-up Miss Nigeria, the mother of his daughter at age 16 in 2001 at one audition in Calabar.

They started dating when Mbong was 18 which was 2 years after they met. They got married in 2008 and their marriage produced a beautiful baby girl named Veno same year. In 2013, the couple parted ways and in 2014 they divorced.
